Biography

Born in Germany, Charlotte Watzlawik had her first vocal lessons at the age of 14 and she quickly was given opportunities to perform on stage.

Starting in October 2014, she finished her Bachelor 2019 at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Conservatoire for Music and Dance Cologne) with Prof. Claudia Kunz-Eisenlohr. From September 2016 to March 2017 she was enrolled at the Royal Academy of Music as an Erasmus-scholarship student.

In 2018 Charlotte Watzlawik succeeded with her final exam as “Pamina” in Mozarts Zauberflöte, a student project at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. She also took part in the opera production The cunning little vixen of Leos Janacek at the Theater Aix-La-Chapelle, a cooperative project with the Hfmt.

In Juli 2021 Charlotte finished her Opera Master degree at the Universität der Künste Berlin with Prof. Carola Höhn. Successfully she completed her studies by singing the role of Wendla in Bella Mátés Frühling, Erwachen, with which she was invited to the Franz Liszt Academy, Budapest for a guest performance in 2022.

Together as a Lied-Duo with pianist Lisa Ochsendorf she won several prizes. Charlotte is award winner of the vocal competition of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg such as finalist in the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in Berlin 2022.

In addition to her studies, she attended master classes with renowned artists such as Anne Schwanewilms, Peter Berne, Klesie Kelly-Moog, Christoph Prégardien, Ulrich Eisenlohr, Anne Le Bosec and Juliane Banse.

She is now a member of the solo ensemble at the Staatsoperette Dresden, where she made her debut as Johanna in Sweeney Todd in December 2023.
